The Spot Breasted Oriole is one of my favorite visitors in our yard and garden. This one stopped by the treehouse to see what we were up to. Our garden is full of butterfly and hummingbird attracting plants so we are a natural magnet for the berry and nectar loving tropical Spot Breasted Oriole.
A native of Southern Mexico and Central America they were introduced into the South Florida-Miami area in the 1940′s. They have a playful personality and you often spot them hanging upside down to better reach a berry or the inside of a flower. I can’t say if this one is a male or female since both sexes look alike.
