A few weeks ago while perusing Pinterest I came across a gorgeous birdbath made from recycled or upcycled glassware. I could hardly contain myself waiting for the weekend to arrive so I could hit the thrift stores looking for things that shine and sparkle. This project is so simple and the results are stunning!
SUPPLIES
Glassware – decorative vases, bowls, plates, etc. Look for microwave turntable glass plates, they make a great platform.
GE Silicone II Clear Caulk – You can get this at the hardware store or here on Amazon,
TOOLS
Level
Caulk Gun
That’s it!
Here is my thrift store score of shiny and sparkly glassware.
Before you begin applying silicone adhesive to your glassware, make sure you know how you want to arrange the pieces. After changing my mind a dozen times I came up with the above designs. I recommend taking a picture that you can refer to if in doubt.
Here is the first of the two birdbaths I created for my garden. I only had two microwave turntable plates so the other designs will have to wait. I slightly buried the plates and covered them in mulch.
Here is the second birdbath. I can’t decide which I like more. This was such a simple project that adds quite a bit of awe to your garden! Now I need to capture a picture of the birds using it.
