Creating a New Backyard Retreat

Backyard living space is a necessity for winding down from the day job.  We finally finished another project on our list this past weekend.  We transformed our ugly and worn concrete slab into a backyard retreat.  Here are a few before, during and after pictures.

Here is a before, or an almost before picture. The tools are out and a few slate tiles set down as a preview.

This is day 2 of the project. My husband and son are finishing the grout.  We are almost there!

It’s done!  Our beautiful new backyard retreat.  The ugly and worn concrete slab has been redone in a beautiful slate tile.  The new patio furniture table/firepit has been assembled and I placed my bistro set next to the recently added pond.

Now it’s time to sit back, relax and decompress.  “Honey, can you get me my wine?”
