I’m wondering how many more chances I will have to take this little guy’s picture this year? He and his female companion should be headed back north anytime now. I was hoping to get a picture a little more in focus, but I’ve learned to keep my distance. They aren’t very trusting of humans, especially ones with cameras. In the sunlight his feathers are luminescent and even more stunning. Here he is perched and protected in the shade of our fire bush. Our fire bush tree is a Florida native that provides an amazing habitat for birds, butterflies, bees and even the dreaded squirrel.

Do any of my more northern family or friends see these guys in the summer? I’m curious where these snowbirds spend their summer?
I see you have the red passion vine. I had one and it just got so wild over the years….it was hard to reign in….love the birds you have….
It does get wild! This one is from my neighbor’s yard. I now own her Mexican Flame Vine, Red Passion Flower Vine, Dutchman’s Pipe and a few other plants that have managed to cross through the fence. No complaints here. They are all beautiful and the wildlife loves them.
